Ingredients

  • 1 pound of lean meat
  • Salt pepper, light soy sauce, oyster sauce (to taste)
  • 120 g of green onion and ginger water
  • 1 tablespoon of sweet potato starch
  • Sesame oil or cooked oil to taste
  • 1 pound of Wonton wrappers
  • Soup base optional
  • Green onions peanut oil, lard (optional)
  • Chili optional

Instructions

Prepare the Filling:

  • Remove the membranes from 1 pound of lean meat, keeping some fat for flavor.
  • Cut the meat into small pieces and grind it using a meat grinder or chop it finely.

Season the Filling:

  • In a bowl, mix the ground meat with salt, pepper, light soy sauce, and oyster sauce until well combined.
  • Gradually add the green onion and ginger water, stirring in one direction each time to ensure the meat absorbs the moisture.
  • Add the sweet potato starch and knead the mixture to incorporate it evenly.
  • Finally, mix in the sesame oil or cooked oil.

Wrap the Wontons:

  • Use the wonton wrappers to encase the filling. One pound of meat pairs with one pound of wrappers, ensuring that the wrapped wontons stay intact.
  • Prepare extra wontons and freeze them for later use.

Cook the Wontons:

  • If using a soup base, take two tablespoons of water from the boiling pot and mix in the soup base.
  • If making your own broth, add green onions, peanut oil, lard, and any preferred seasonings to your bowl.
  • Drop the wontons directly into the boiling water; no need to thaw them first.
  • Once cooked, transfer the wontons to a bowl, adding chili if desired for an extra kick.
