As part of our dim sum and breakfast rotation, piggy buns, black sesame buns, spinach buns, brown sugar mantou, pan-fried buns, Ma lai gao, and taro dumplings play a crucial role in our household.

We rotate these items regularly, making extra each time to freeze for later use. This makes it convenient and quick to have a variety of foods available, keeping our meals diverse and enjoyable.

I used store-bought red bean paste for the piggy buns, but you can make it yourself using my red bean paste recipe. If you prefer a different filling, such as purple sweet potato paste, taro paste, feel free to use that instead.

Why make piggy buns?

Piggy buns are irresistibly cute and fun to make. They’re not just about satisfying your taste buds but also about enjoying a creative baking experience. Shaping these adorable treats can bring joy to kids and offer a relaxing break for adults.

Plus, they’re a great way to add a fun touch to gatherings with family and friends. Whether you’re looking to brighten up your day or try something new, piggy buns are a delightful choice.piggy buns 3
