This recipe is simple and delicious, reminiscent of a comforting dish my grandmother used to make. With only a few pantry ingredients, the dish is ready in 15 minutes. If you are using store-bought minced pork, it takes just 10 minutes to prepare.
About minced pork omelette
This minced pork omelette is a savory dish combining beaten eggs with seasoned minced pork, creating a flavorful and nutritious meal. The pork and egg mixture is cooked until golden brown on both sides, resulting in a tender and juicy omelette.
Often enhanced with light soy sauce, sugar, and other seasonings, this dish can be garnished with green onions and served with rice, making it a versatile option for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
In China, we usually call it “Dàn Bǐng” (egg pancake) because it resembles a pancake in appearance, but unlike a French omelet, it doesn’t involve folding.
When choosing the minced pork, I recommend adding a bit of fatty meat to ensure the omelette stays juicy and not dry, similar to my steamed pork patty recipe.
Ingredients:
- 300g minced pork
- 4 eggs
- 2 tablespoons oil for frying
- 1 tablespoon light soy sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon MSG (optional)
- 1 tablespoon cooking wine
- ½ cup water
- Chopped green onions for garnish
Prepare the Ingredients:
Mince the meat with a knife. I prefer chopping the pork finely with a knife, especially when working with smaller amounts, as it’s quick and efficient. Alternatively, you can use a blender if you prefer.
Crack 4 eggs into a bowl with the minced pork.
Mix well with chopsticks until fully combined.

Fry the Omelette:
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and swirl to coat the entire surface of the pan.
Pour in the egg and pork mixture, gently swirling the pan to ensure even heating.
Cook on medium-low heat for about 1 minute, then flip. Fry until both sides are golden brown.

Season the Omelette:
Add light soy sauce, salt, sugar, MSG (if using), and cooking wine to the pan.
Pour in half a cup of water.
Cover the pan and simmer for 3 minutes.
Serve:
Sprinkle with chopped green onions before serving.
Enjoy your tender and juicy minced pork omelette with rice.
