Cook red bean sago dessert the same way as sweet potato tapioca using a rice cooker. It’s incredibly simple and tastes especially good. This method is quick, taking just 45 minutes, and you don’t have to worry about water boiling over or any kitchen mishaps.

I love this method and often choose it for convenience. There’s no need to soak the beans or cook the sago separately—just cook when you’re ready to eat, and it will be ready in no time.

I also share a different way to cook sago using a pot, which you can find in the mango sago or taro sago recipes. Sago can be used in many desserts, and I’ll share all the ones I make. If you don’t know how to cook sago, just check my sago recipes—they all explain the process.

The red bean sago has the softness of red beans and the chewiness of sago. Adding some milk makes the texture even richer.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup red beans
  • ½ cup sago
  • 1 liter boiling water
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2-3 tablespoons rock sugar

Instructions:

Prepare Ingredients:

Rinse the red beans thoroughly, no soaking required. Measure out 1/2 cup of sago.

Cooking:

Place the red beans and sago in the rice cooker.

Add boiling water to the rice cooker (do not use cold water as sago is made of starch and will dissolve in cold water).

Select the porridge setting on the rice cooker and cook for 45 minutes.

Adding Rock Sugar:

Once the cooking cycle is complete, add the rock sugar to the rice cooker. Stir until it dissolves.

Final Touches:

Add the milk to the mixture, stirring gently.

Serve:

Serve hot. For a refreshing treat, let it cool and serve chilled.

Enjoy your delicious and easy-to-make Red Bean Sago Dessert!
